    CEO & Founder

    Hi, I’m Mohammed, CEO and Co-Founder of OpportUNITY. I started off as a fresh eyed volunteer and worked my way up to opening my own NGO. During this time I also graduated with a BA Degree in Community and Youth Work.

    Role in OpportUNITY: My main role at OpportUNITY is to lead the Training Team.

    Interesting fact: I own a pet chipmunk called Captain Manuel. We are quite similar in the fact that we both love to sleep.

    Introduction: My name is Travis Holley and I am an American who moved to Newcastle in January of 2016.

    Role in OpportUNITY: I work as the European Voluntary Service Coordinator.

    After I gained my master degree in Economics in Croatia, I joined OpportUNITY. My main role is to get in order creative chaos in the office. I am actively working on developing and implementing business and management strategy, coordinating Erasmus + deadlines and helping with logistics wherever my help is needed.

    Role in Opportunity: My roles at OpportUNITY include coordinating local volunteers with local projects, managing the EVS volunteers’ properties, helping with funding applications and bid writing, and supporting the organisation with various activities such as The Key and international training courses.

    Interesting fact: I have volunteered abroad with the poor/homeless, in Ghana and also in Hungary.

    I am here as an EVS volunteer and I am here for the next year. During this time I hope to improve my personal and professional skills.

    Role in OpportUNITY: I am responsible for the visual part of the organisation. I have to make sure that everything works perfectly in terms of innovation, adaptability, creativity.

    Ciao! My name is Chiara and I’m volunteering in England for one year with EVS, after 9 months spent between Poland, Hungary and Japan.
    I love creative writing and my main goal in life is to become a professional sci-fi and fantasy novelist.

    I am a youthworker at Northbourne Street Youth Initiative, where I create and do activities with young people aged 8 to 18.

    I volunteered at a farm in Japan living in a camper for two months!

    Introduction: Hiya! I’m Lena, a 19-year-old adventurer who just needed to get out of her usual daily life after graduating from college to experience something new. So here I am, volunteering with Opportunity for 12 months, meeting loads of inspiring people, visiting cool places and improving my skills, too!

    Role: With Opportunity as my coordinating organisation, I volunteer at a YMCA Youth Centre called SPACE2. I support the youth workers with their daily tasks, am responsible for most of the creative work and also get to implement my own projects!

    Interesting fact: Just give me Game of Thrones and some doughnuts and my heart is yours.

    Introduction: Hi. My name is Fatih Ertek. I volunteer at the Opportunity project and I’ll be doing this until June 2018.

    Role: I am working on a project with Opportunity where I am developing opportunities for other volunteers to help them settle into a new country. I am volunteering at Northbourne Street Youth Initiative, this is a youth project based in the west end of Newcastle. I am helping young people to learn and develop themselves the age range I will be working with is 8 to 21. I am doing this as I would like to gain experience of what it takes to be a youth worker

    Role in OpportUNITY:I am a youth worker in Space2 where I teach French to youth aged 13 to 18. I spend time with young people doing activities and to enhance their creativity. For me being a volunteer means to give the best of myself without expecting anything in return.

    Interesting fact: I had an opportunity to be a volunteer with the “SERVICE CIVIQUE” in France in order to help children to do their homework in a library.

    Introduction: I’m Gabriele, I’m 26, an Italian boy from one of the most beautiful islands in the world, and I’ve already finished my studies at the university in Cagliari.

    Role in OpportUNITY: I work with Travis, and I help him with the organisational side of things, such as finding more organisations, and financial aspects. I also work in Space2.

    Interesting fact: I like reading, watching tv series’ and swimming. I love to travel and discover new cultures and meet new people from different backgrounds.
